Operational performance

Metalloinvest successfully completed the year of 2007 and has exceeded the 2006 results in the major production indicators, despite also implementing modernization projects under conditions of functioning production.

Mining division

In 2007, the Holding’s mining division increased iron ore production from 99,500 to 100,273 thousand tons and production of iron concentrate increased from 38,119 to 38,320 thousand tons. The output of hot briquetted iron at Lebedinsky GOK rose from 1,031 to 1,201 thousand tons. Following the introduction of the concentrated enriching technologies at Mikhailovsky GOK, pellets production was 19 million tons in 2007, with a concurrent increase in the iron content in the pellets.

Steel division

In 2007 the steel division of the Holding increased cast iron production by 12% to reach 2,796,000 tons. The volume of steel production increased by 2.4% in comparison with 2006 and rose from 6,281,000 tons to 6,432,000 tons. The production of rolled steel equalled the level of 2006 and amounted to 5.2 million tons.
