Born on July 1, 1947 in Gubkin (Belgorod Region).

Holds a PhD in  Engineering

Graduated from the Voronezh Politechnical Institute in 1976

Started his career at Lebedinsky GOK as foreman; also held positions of Head of Section and Chief of Power Engineering

2001: Lebedinsky GOK, General Director
2004 – 2006: Lebedinsky GOK, Managing Director

In 2006 Mr. Malyavin was appointed as the Head of the Mining Division at Management Company METALLOINVEST LLC.

Married, one son.
